Swiss citizens do not need to obtain a visa before visiting Japan for a stay up to 90 days
Please see a list of all countries with visa exemption for a short term stay in Japan.
To enter Japan you need:
- a machine readable e-passport valid on arrival
- a return ticket
- Visit Japan Web provides you with an immigration and customs declaration form for your arrival. Some airlines might ask you to provide this at check-in for your flight to Japan

- VISA APPLICATIONS must be done at the Embassy of Japan in Bern. The Honorary Consulate General of Japan in Zurich can not issue any visas. Please refer to the latest information at the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- JAPANESE DRIVERS LICENCE: We don’t translate the Swiss Driver’s licence into Japanese. Please refer to this site.
